Cultural sites
Pernes les Fontaines is a walled town full of charm with its towers and forty fountains.
Roussillon, and the many oxides in its ochre sands combining in countless different shades, is only half an hour away.
As is Gordes which, hanging on a rocky promontory of the Vaucluse mountains, dominates the plain and offers a breath-taking view of the Luberon mountains to the south.
Near Gordes, the monks of the well-worth visiting Abbaye de Sénanque, founded in the XII century, cultivate lavender and olive groves, and produce honey.
The charming town of Goult to the south of Gordes is also a must for visiting.
There’s lots to see and admire in the hill-top medieval town of Venasque to the east of Pernes les Fontaines.
The town of Mazan to the north of Pernes boasts the Château de Mazan, the old home of the Marquis de Sade.
It is now a four-star hotel.

Shopping

The local village of Velleron has a small supermarket, a bakery and a number of other shops.
Pernes les Fontaines has all the usual shopping facilities,
as does l'Isle sur la Sorgue.
